British Values

Life in Modern Britain

At Malvern Primary School, we agree with the Department of Education’s five part definition of British Values:

  • Democracy

  • British Law

  • Individual liberty

  • Mutual & Self respect

  • Respect for different Lifestyles, Faiths & Beliefs

We believe that it is important that these British Values permeate through every child in our school. At Malvern, you will encounter these values throughout our everyday school life. Our values and our House Team names of Trust, Respect, Ambition, Courage are underpinned in our school vision, through our Golden Rules, and in our whole school curriculum.

Our school council members are voted for by all pupils in a democratic process.  Councillors listen to and represent the views of every pupil in our school. Malvern school council is part of the Schools Parliament which consists of representatives from our cluster of Primary Schools.  They have discussed and debated important issues such as attendance, anti bullying and the importance of respect.

Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to take part in a residential visit to London where they learn about the role of the Houses of Parliament and the British democratic process.
