Year 5 trip to Robinwood
Wednesday 11.10am Arrived at Robinwood
Following a very uneventful coach journey (no one was sick!) everyone arrived at the Centre.
They met the instructors from Robinwood, before unpacking. After collecting their lunch, to eat on the moors, all groups made their way (in the hazy sun) along the track behind the centre, onto the moors. There they took part in”Moorland Challenge”, which incorporates bouldering, orienteering, bird spotting and survival techniques.
Wednesday 7pm Pizza & Chips for tea
After a muddy afternoon on the moors everyone has had a shower and then Pizza and chips for tea. The tuck shop is open, with long queues!.
This evening it is “Team Challenge”. They will be playing team games such as building a flying machine, first team to completely wrap a team mate up in toilet paper!, quizzes and treasure hunts.
Wednesday 10.10pm Bedtime
After team games everyone settled down in the hall with hot chocolate and biscuits. They are all now in their rooms either asleep or resting. Robinwood have night staff on, who’s responsibility is to patrol corridors and check in on all rooms to ensure the children are happy and settled (and hopefully sleeping!!)
Thursday 8.30am Breakfast
It wasa quiet night and all have been fed & watered (full English Breakfast & mounds of toast ! ).
This mornings activities are caving (in the floor of the hall) Night Line, Hoax Hill or climbing on the purpose built walls in the hall. The weather is now dry, but it has been raining all through the night.
Thursday 1.15pm Lunch
Everyone has taken part in this mornings activities, and after sandwiches at lunch time, they are now busy on the archery range, climbing and caving. The weather is not too good with squally showers but it certainly has not spoiled the trip, with some revelling in the extra mud!.
Thursday 5.45pm Exhausted Children!
Tea has been demolished, all had a huge appetite due to a very busy day! It has finally stopped raining and there is still a very action packed evening to look forward to. The groups are taking part in archery, climbing and piranha pool. Then it will be time for showers before getting ready for bed.
Thursday 10pm All in bed
All the children are tucked up in bed, and all the staff are exhausted!
The night staff have now taken over, but should have a very quiet night since everyone is so tired after such an action packed day.
Friday 7.45am A Good nights sleep
The children are up, washed and dressed. All had a very good nights sleep and they are on their way down for their breakfast. The forecast snow has not made an appearance thankfully, but there are blustery showers around this morning. Todays activities include canoeing, archery and caving.
Friday 11.45am It’s Sunny!
It’s an early lunch today so that they can fit in another activity this afternoon before leaving at 3pm. It’s finally sunny, but cold. Everyone has returned from canoeing, some more wet than others!.
Friday 3.10pm Homeward bound
The coach has just left the centre.
Friday 4.30pm All back safely!
