Interventions we use at Malvern to support emotional well-being

PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME OF THESE INTERVENTIONS MAY CURRENTLY BE ON HOLD TO COMPLY WITH OUR COVID-19 RISK ASSESSMENT.

Desty Island

This intervention helps children to build their self-esteem, express their emotions, cope better with difficult life situations, bounce back after setbacks, and achieve success at school by building their emotional resilience. For more information you can visit their website at https://www.educationdesty.com/

Drawing and Talking Therapy

The purpose of the Drawing and Talking is to draw with a person whom the child feels comfortable with at the same time each week. This is a gentle, non-intrusive method of working with children who need a little help to support their emotional well-being while in school. The practitioner will learn to ask a number of non-intrusive questions about the drawing, and over time a symbolic resolution is found to old conflicts and trauma is healed. If you would like more information regarding this intervention you can download a flyer here https://drawingandtalking.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Spring-2020-Leaflet.pdf

Wake Up Shake Up!

We have designed an exciting activity session to help children positively engage in their learning. Wake Up! Shake Up! starts right at the beginning of the school day and allows children to take part in an exercise routine followed by some relaxation which is designed to help the children focus in the classroom.

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch has been designed to support children who may need a little bit of extra support over lunchtime. Children can come and eat their lunch with a member of staff and a selection and friends and chat about our days and our feelings. We eat together and play some games whilst talking our worries away!
