Malvern’s Eco-Committee: Planting for a Greener Future

This week, children from Malvern’s Eco-Committee gathered at Roby Field in Merton Crescent for an exciting and educational planting activity. Joined by an ecologist, local councillors, and a Knowsley green space ranger, the young environmentalists rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

The children planted a variety of small saplings, known as whips, along with vibrant daffodil bulbs. Among the trees planted were town, cherry, hazel, and silver birch, each chosen for their suitability to the local environment and their contribution to biodiversity.

This hands-on experience not only taught the children about the importance of trees and plants in our ecosystem but also fostered a sense of community and responsibility towards their local green spaces. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the children to connect with nature and learn from experts about the vital role they play in preserving our environment.
