Junior Leadership Team – Charity Fundraising

Throughout the summer term, Malvern’s Junior Leadership Team (JLT) will be organising a series of events aimed at raising funds for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. Their inspiration stems from the invaluable support Alder Hey provided to their fellow pupil, Harry.

The fundraising efforts kick off on Friday 12th April, with an invitation to all students to come to school wearing blue. The JLT has chosen blue as a theme, honouring Harry’s favourite team, Everton. On this day, all children are invited to wear something blue to school and contribute £1 towards the cause.

Throughout the day, the JLT will host various exciting events for all pupils to enjoy. Additionally, a special disco will be held after school exclusively for children in Year 4, 5, and 6. Be Bright – Be Seen

During Road Safety Week, Knowsley’s Active Travel and Road Safety Team collaborated with schools throughout the borough to engage students in valuable learning activities. Primary school children in Knowsley participated in the ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’ campaign, gaining insights into the challenges drivers face in spotting pedestrians dressed in dark clothing. Emphasizing the importance of visibility, students were encouraged to participate in a competition where they created vibrant clothing and accessories.

As part of this initiative, Malvern Primary School students crafted colourful entries, viewable here:

The competition winners, decided by our Junior Leadership Team, were elated to receive their well-deserved rewards this week. This hands-on approach not only educated children about road safety but also fostered creativity, making the learning experience both informative and enjoyable.

Junior Leadership Team visited Knowsley Foodbank

In December 2023, two members of our Junior Leadership Team visited Knowsley Foodbank to deliver the generous donations collected from Malvern families as part of our Reverse Advent Calendar. Knowsley Foodbank expressed delight with the efforts of our entire school community and conveyed deep gratitude. We are pleased to share that we collected an impressive 45 kilograms of food. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, and special recognition to the Junior Leadership Team for inspiring and leading this project with their vision and compassion for our community.

Democracy in Action at Knowsley Cabinet

Our Junior Leadership Team attended Knowsley Council  to get first-hand experience of democracy in action. Pupils enjoyed an opportunity to meet with the Council’s Leader, Cllr Graham Morgan. Junior Leaders asked many questions and found out about roles and responsibilities, what inspires local leaders and improvement planning in our local community. Pupils also met with the Mayor of Knowsley, Cllr Eddie Connor, where he advised pupils on his role as the Civic Mayor for the Borough. Next, they attended a Cabinet meeting where they were able to see democracy in action.
