Malvern Leadership Academy Launches the PlayMaker Award

At Malvern Primary School, we believe leadership skills are a powerful catalyst for positive change. Developing these skills not only equips our pupils with the resilience needed to face life’s challenges but also empowers them to enrich their communities. That’s why we are thrilled to announce that pupils in Upper Key Stage Two have started their journey toward completing the PlayMaker Award, accredited by the Leadership Skills Foundation.

The PlayMaker Award serves as a fantastic introduction to leadership. Through this program, pupils gain the confidence to believe, the qualities to lead, and the skills to succeed. They learn how to organise small games and activities, which they can share with their classmates, community groups, and even friends and family.

The program emphasises core leadership skills like organisation, communication and teamwork, all while helping learners build self-esteem and confidence. As they step into these roles, our pupils take on the responsibility of assisting in leading their peers and younger children, making a tangible impact both in school and beyond.

The PlayMaker Award is open to everyone, regardless of prior leadership experience. It’s designed to be inclusive and flexible, allowing participants to tailor their learning by leading activities they enjoy while mastering essential leadership techniques.

At Malvern, we are passionate about nurturing leaders of tomorrow. Through initiatives like the PlayMaker Award, we ensure that our pupils are equipped with the tools to inspire and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
