Here at Malvern we believe that swimming is more than just a sport – its a life skill, a source of joy and a pathway to confidence. Our commitment to the Pool at School programme encourages every child to develop their skills in the water, build resilience and enjoy staying active in a fun and supportive environment.

The Pool at School initiative includes a pop-up pool, an impressive 10m x 5m structure with a depth of 1.4m, right here at Malvern Primary School. This allows ample space for swimming and water activities. Set up on the playground within a large marquee, the pool is heated to a comfortable 28-32 degrees Celsius.

The pool at school programme is specifically designed to help children achieve the milestone of swimming 25 meters by the end of Year 6 and to teach essential water safety skills, all delivered by nationally recognised swim instructors following the guidance of Swim England and the National curriculum.

Benefits:

  • By eliminating the need for travel to leisure centres, we maximise the time available for both swimming lessons and traditional classroom learning.
  • Children receive consistent and frequent swim instruction, leading to faster skill development and greater water confidence.
  • Expert instruction on a smaller group scale, enhancing the delivery and assessment aligned to Swim England and National curriculum guidelines.
