A Midsummer Night’s Dream

‘I have had a most rare vision.  I had a dream….’

Drama & Theatre Club’s final thespian outing of the school year took place on Tuesday 16th July.  The venue was Prescot’s Shakespeare North Playhouse and the spectacle to behold was The HandleBards performing A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The HandleBards’ high energy performance was a fitting climax to another dramatic year at Malvern.  Four amazing actors played multiple roles with a mesmerising passion and enthusiasm that had the audience spellbound from the beginning.  Drama & Theatre Club children had a wonderful time – and at the end of the performance, they were able to meet the cast and pose for photos.

As ever, Drama & Theatre Club children were excellent ambassadors for Malvern.  Indeed, one of the actors commented on the children’s reactions and the fact that they knew how to ‘behave’ as an audience.

A member of staff at the theatre talked to Malvern teachers to say that she had been at Knowlsey Hall (with a group of friends, including some retired teachers) to see Hamlet the previous week.  She reported that all in her group had been very impressed with Malvern children’s ‘audience skills’.
