At Malvern, the primary aim of our PE curriculum is to provide our young people with the necessary skills and attitudes to lead physically active, healthy lives. In order to do this, we provide opportunities for learners to develop physical agility and confidence, participate in team games that promote fairness and respect for others and hone skills that will support them maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout life. This includes learning to swim using various strokes, taking part in outdoor pursuits and opportunities to compete.

Intent

Good Progress: Development of core skills and tactics required to participate effectively and confidently in sport through sustained levels of activity.

Enrichment opportunities: Wide range of extra curricular activities for students to be exposed to competitive/recreational sport and educational visits.

Developing students for life: Following the YST and Leadership framework values, allowing students to appreciate the wider aspects of taking part in PE and sport.

Word rich culture: Use of key terminology through analysis of performance.

Broad general knowledge: Range of activities linked to the national curriculum. Sports leadership is also encouraged through Sports leadership framework awards.

Enjoyment & Aspiration:  Foster a love of sport and PE, harnessing the promotion of living a heathy, active lifestyle.
