Macbeth

Drama & Theatre Club children started their theatre-going year with a trip to Prescot’s fantastic Shakespeare North Playhouse to see one of the Bard’s most famous plays – Macbeth.

The English Touring Theatre’s production of ‘the Scottish play’ was powerful and gripping in equal measure.  With very creative use of a hand-held camera and two video screens, the brilliant cast performed a thought-provoking staging of one of Shakespeare’s most well-known tragedies.

At the end of the play, the cast very kindly returned to the auditorium to meet the children and pose for photographs.  Children even joined the actors for an energetic: ‘Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.’

Several members of the audience approached Malvern staff to praise the children for their excellent behaviour.  We were delighted to be joined by several colleagues from Liverpool Hope University.
